Halloween is right around the corner, which means that stores and homes will soon be covered in ghosts, pumpkins, and skeletons. To get in the Halloween spirit, we wanted to share this fun book that tells the story of a skeleton in need. He receives help from the friends around him (sometimes with humorous results). This book also provided us with the perfect opportunity to have fun with some skeleton activities, games and crafts!
15 Children’s Books about Pumpkins
Fall is almost here, which means it’s time to start thinking about pumpkins, apples, and fall festivals! Fall is my favorite time of year, and I love visiting the apple orchards and pumpkin patches with my family. Our neighbor is unintentionally growing pumpkins this year (squirrels love to bury pumpkin seeds it seems), so we have had the opportunity to watch them grow from vines into flowers, and finally into pumpkins. To celebrate the start of fall and continue our pumpkin education, I decided to gather a list of fun children’s books about pumpkins. From board books to picture books, and even non-fiction reads, there is a little something for everyone!
How to Trick the Tooth Fairy!
Dental health is so important in the early years, and the best way to get kids excited about it is to make it fun! When it comes to losing a tooth, what kid doesn’t get excited about the prospect of a glittery fairy doling out coins and prizes? Today, we had the opportunity to check out a new picture book that takes the tooth fairy myth in a fun new direction as she battles with the prank queen for top status. We also had some fun with a variety of tooth fairy activities inspired by the story.
Bringing the Alphabet to Life
I love alphabet books. During one of my classes in grad school, we spent an entire section of class time studying alphabet books and their importance in children’s literature. I really love seeing how different authors can take the same 26 letters and create such fun and engaging stories with them. So I was thrilled when I was given the opportunity to join the blog tour for a new children’s alphabet book with a fun twist.

Today, we had the opportunity to check out a book that shows what makes books special, and how they can transform your life. It offers an opportunity to think about the books that inspire and shape you as well.
Put Down the Phones : Enjoying Screen Free Family Time
We are surrounded by technology. I tried to keep my daughter away from it as much as possible when she was a baby, but as soon as she was old enough to walk around and explore the world around her, she found technology. She loves playing with phones and tablets, and she has her favorite TV shows. But it’s so important that we remember to take a technology break once in a while and enjoy some screen free family time. Today’s book serves as a great reminder that sometimes we have to put down the phones and enjoy life!
Celebrate Family with These Books about Grandparents!
The relationship between grandparents and their grandchildren is a special one. I love watching my daughter spend time with my parents and create new memories and traditions. They have such a special relationship, and I love watching it grow and flourish. In honor of National Grandparents Day (celebrated on the first Sunday after Labor Day), I gathered a list of children’s books about grandparents for your family to share.

I love finding or creating items that can be used for lots of different educational activities. In addition to letter recognition and fine motor skills, these easy to make manipulatives can help kids work on a variety of skills.
