Multicultural Children’s Book Day is coming up on January 25, 2019! The mission of MCBD is to bring awareness to diverse children’s books and get more multicultural books into schools and libraries. All children should be able to see themselves reflected in the books that they are reading. This day is all about promoting the wonderful diverse children’s books out there.

Learning about Engineering with Books & Brackitz!
Do your kids enjoy figuring out how things work? Encouraging that curiosity is a great way to inspire a love of learning and maybe start them on a lifelong love of engineering. My daughter has always had an interest in how things work. So I am always on the lookout for books and toys that encourage her to explore and tinker. So when I had the opportunity to check out Brackitz blocks, I was thrilled with how well they would pair with some of the best engineering books for kids!
Combining Coding and Play with Unruly Splats!
Coding is something that I wished I learned more of in school. I love that they are teaching coding at a young age now, because it will give kids a leg up in the technological world that they are growing up in. Plus, it is so much fun for them to see how the code they are writing is affecting the machines that they are working with. So I was thrilled when we had the opportunity to work with Unruly Splats to check out their new programmable floor tiles and coding game for kids!
Teaching Kids Through Educational Programming
Are you worried about what your kids watch on television? I am pretty strict about the shows that I let my daughter watch. I do control the amount of screen time that she gets, but I am also an advocate for educational programs for kids. My daughter loves shows that encourage her to answer questions and sing and dance along. So I was thrilled to learn that Greg Page (the original Yellow Wiggle from The Wiggles), has created a new series of educational videos for kids!
Educational Gifts Kids Will Want This Year!
Do you want to make learning more fun for your kids? When it comes to shopping for holiday gifts, I always like to find toys that are both fun and educational. It is important to me that the gifts that I give my daughter provide some educational value, whether it is working on a particular skill, providing her with an opportunity to be creative, or encouraging her to explore the world around her. This list of educational gifts for kids offers lots of options for the young learners on your list!
Entertaining Activity Books Your Kids Will Want!
I love books that kids can interact with. Look and find books were some of my favorites when I was growing up. I was always writing in journal style books, or looking for books with fun activities I could do. So I decided to gather a list of new activity books for kids! Whether your kids are interested in LEGOs, cooking, STEM or journaling, there is an activity book for them.

Fancy Gifts for Fancy Nancy Fans!
I love Fancy Nancy. The popular book series by Jane O’Connor and Robin Preiss Glasser follows Nancy Clancy, a young girl who loves everything fancy. She loves to use big words, and she dresses and accessorizes to impress. She also uses French words whenever she can, and does her best to add a little fantastique to the world around her. With the recent release of the Disney Junior show based on the books, my daughter has fallen in love with the world of Fancy Nancy. We had the opportunity to check out some of the new Fancy Nancy Toys from Jakks Pacific, and it inspired me to put together this list of gifts for Fancy Nancy fans.
