Be the Star of Your Own Story with Bearnard!
I always enjoy books that encourage kids to see the strength and bravery that they have inside. I especially love stories that show them how to use their strengths in ways they hadn’t thought of before. Today’s book is about a bear who discovers his own bravery and uses it to become the star of his own story.

Twisting Fairy Tales with It’s Not Hansel and Gretel
I have always enjoyed when authors take familiar stories and poems and put their own spin on it. One of my favorite stories growing up was a twist on the story of the 3 Little Pigs. Since my daughter is already familiar with lots of stories and fairy tales, we have a lot of fun reading different versions of the same stories. Today’s book takes the story of Hansel and Gretel and turns it completely on it’s head. With current jokes, a blast of imagination, and even a stab at sexism in fairy tales, this is a twisted fairy tale that everyone can laugh along with!
Like This? Read This! YA Books for Adults to Enjoy
Young adult fiction gets a bad rap sometimes. People assume YA books are full of over the top teen angst and ludicrous plots. And I can understand a bit. I’ve read my fair share of disappointing melodramas. A few years ago, I decided to dig back into the YA world, and I was shocked by the fantastic stories I discovered. Engaging plots, with well-rounded characters and fun creative twists, these books reminded me why reading is so much fun. It is a natural escape from our everyday lives. The world of YA can seem a bit muddy, so I created a list of books that you will enjoy based off of some of your favorite “adult” novels.

Celebrate Reading with Children’s Books about Librarians!
Did you have an influential librarian in your life? I vividly remember visiting our school library as a child, and I have lots of memories of our librarian. There are several books that I remember her reading to us, and I now enjoy reading them to my daughter.
As a teacher, I had the opportunity to work in the school that I grew up in. I was even able to work with that same librarian. At the 5th grade moving up ceremony one year, she read Dr. Seuss’s Oh the Places You’ll Go to the whole room. As I was preparing to graduate from grad school myself, it brought tears to my eyes. It reminded me the power that librarians can have to introduce kids to books and the power of words. Today I decided to honor these special people with this list of children’s books about librarians and the power that they have to open our eyes!
8 Children’s Books about Love
There are so many kinds of love, and it is so important that we teach kids that love, kindness and affection are some of the best things in life. I love sharing books about love with my daughter. I want her to know that love isn’t just a sentiment that we say to one another before bed, but that it is something that we feel, and something we should embody. These children’s books about love celebrate the love between family members, the love children have for their toys, and even the love that animals have for one another. There are even two books about robots learning about the meaning of love!
