With Father’s Day just around the corner, it is the perfect time to share some beautiful new children’s books about dads and grandfathers. I am so grateful for the relationship that I have with my Dad, and I love watching him build a relationship with my daughter now. So I am always on the lookout for books that showcase that loving relationship between fathers and their kids, and grandfathers and their grandchildren. I remember reading with both of my parents, and it is so fun seeing my daughter share her love of reading with them as well. I hope your family enjoys sharing some of these books about grandpas and dads too!

When Reality is Stranger than Fiction: 5 Must Read Memoirs
I have such a respect for people willing to relive their most painful, embarrassing and awkward moments for the rest of us to enjoy. Writing about the exploits of a fictional character could almost be considered easy compared to compiling moments you might prefer to forget in a neat little package for others to dissect and examine. If these authors are brave enough to gift us with pieces of their history, we owe it to them to enjoy the fruits of their labor. Check out some of my favorite must read memoirs below and take a trip down someone else’s memory lane.
Exploring Pool Safety with Rosie the Dragon!
Summer time is here, which means lots of fun in the sun and the water! Before you head out to the pool though, it is important that you go over some of the rules. Since my daughter is still young, we are spending a lot of time talking about pool safety this year. So I was thrilled when we were given the opportunity to check out this book that explores pool safety while telling a fun story about a pet dragon! We also paired it with summer activities for kids that review sun safety and pool safety, and also encourage bubbly fun.
Kick Off Your Summer Reading with These Books!
I’ve never really subscribed to the notion of certain books being “beach reads”. My summer reading list has always run the gamut. From classics assigned for school to tense thrillers, I’ve never felt the need to limit my warm weather reads to a certain genre. However, I will concede that, just as some books are better on a dark and stormy night, some are meant to be enjoyed with the sun beating down on you and a cool drink in your hand. Check out my recommendations below to toss in your beach bag or place next to your deck chair.

Funny Pet Books for Kids
I loved growing up with a dog, and I love that my daughter has our dog to play with, read to, and share adventures with. Having a dog also helps her to learn about responsibility. Just today she ran to the door with a paper towel to clean the dog’s nose prints off the glass. Since we are a dog loving family, I love finding great children’s books about pets that showcase all the fun that having a pet can bring to your life. So today I gathered this list of funny pet books for kids. From real pets to imagined ones, there are lots of fun stories for all families to enjoy!

How to Make Parenting a Game
As a parent, we have all had those times when we are face to face with our kids and we realize that the next words can have a huge outcome on the situation. Whether you are facing a possible argument, a new fear, or a total meltdown, you know that what you say next matters. Sometimes when my daughter and I are facing off it almost feels like time freezes. I can glimpse the two roads ahead of me. One way leads to peace and happiness while the other leads to anger and frustration for both of us. I want to reach for the happy route more often, so I am always looking for ways to make parenting fun. Luckily, I had the opportunity to check out a new parenting book that is changing the way I parent and leading to more happy days.
10 Children’s Books about Bees
Bees are probably one of the first bugs that kids recognize. With their large size and loud buzzing, they are kind of hard to miss. The fear of being stung is also present from a very young age, even if you have never been stung by anything. Because of this, bees are often high on the list of childhood fears. The sad part is that bees are struggling for survival, and the loss of their population will mean devastating things to our lives and our environment. So I decided to gather a list of children’s books about bees to teach kids about the importance of bees and the work that they do. Hopefully with a little education, we can change some minds about bees and save them!
