No matter your political affiliation, this election was an important one. Girls growing up today will have a different perspective on what they are capable of. They may not understand the debates and the negativity from both candidates, but they can see that there was a woman who could have been the next president.
My parents raised my sister and I to understand that girls can do anything. It is so important to me that my daughter is raised believing that she can do anything that she sets her mind to. (Given the state of politics in this country, I’m not sure that I would like her in politics, but I want her to believe she can do it!) To help me teach her that girls can do anything, I want to surround her with books about strong female characters, both real and fiction. Here are some great books about strong girls to add to your library!

Snow has arrived where we live! We’ve been spending lots of time outside in the snow and trying to build snowmen. Each day our snowmen look a little different, which brings up the question addressed in today’s book!

The fun rhyming text is accompanied by adorable illustrations which make you want to join in the snowman fun! My daughter and I are big fans of 
, so I was excited to check out the other titles in this series! We have already had a lot of snow here and have had a lot of fun exploring it! Even if you don’t live in a snowy climate, there are lots of learning opportunities to go along with this adorable story!
by Dan and Audrey Wood is a beautifully illustrated story of a little mouse who finds a delicious strawberry. The narrator tells the mouse that there is a hungry bear that loves freshly picked strawberries, so the mouse decides to try and hide the fruit from the bear. This results in some entertaining ideas by the mouse which will surely have kids laughing. In the end, the mouse and the narrator share the strawberry. This is a sweet story that can be used in many fun ways!
