Summertime is the perfect time to dive into books about ocean lore. Little Bookworm loves mermaids and fairy tales, so we were thrilled to check out these new mermaid books for kids!

Written by Sabrina Makhsimova and illustrated by Dinara Mirtalipova

This trifold case includes 3 cute board books exploring life under the sea. The rhyming books Mermaid’s Cover, Mercat’s Reef, and Diver’s Bay, include sweet short poems and colorful illustrations.

Mermaid Dance

Written by Matthew Van Fleet and illustrated by Mara Van Fleet

This large tabbed board book follows a school of merkids invited to a dance party. The rhyming text uses action words to gets kids moving and dancing along with the merkids in the book. The colorful illustrations show mermaids and sea animals dancing together, with pull tabs that activate an interactive part of the illustrations. Kids will love watching the sea animals, dance, nod, and swirl on the page.

Mermaid Day 

Written by Diana Murray and illustrated by Luke Flowers

This brightly colored book from the creators of Unicorn Day join a group of mermaids and sea creatures as they gather together for Mermaid Day celebrations. The rhyming text and vibrant cartoon illustrations showcase all kinds of fun events for Mermaid Day, from dancing with dolphins to seaweed tea and plankton cakes.
