I love books that teach kids about kindness and friendship, so we were excited to check out this adorable new book from the creators of You are (Not) Small. If you are looking for a quality children’s book about gift giving, then you want to definitely add this one to your list. This is (Not) Enough was written by Anna Kang and illustrated by Christopher Weyant. The same lovable creatures from the previous books from this duo are back to spread love and teach an important lesson about gift giving.
In the story, the two friends are excited to give each other gifts. But as they try to find the “perfect” gift, nothing seems good enough. Soon their ideas are getting bigger and more complicated. In the end, they learn the important lesson that the thought behind the gift and the love it represents are more important than what is in the box.
The sweet story is accompanied by colorful illustrations showing the two characters creating bigger and more intense gifts. The love between the characters shine through the images, and kids will love the silly moments in the story as well as the tender message.

Surprise Gift Notes
The idea of spreading kindness encouraged us to create some origami notes to spread some love. We cut strips of paper and folded them using the instructions found on The Bumbling Bee’s website, and then we hid notes inside. Kids will love creating little notes and hiding them for loved ones to find.
Creating Gifts
In the end, the most important part of the gifts that the two characters gave to one another is that they were made with love. There are lots of ways that you can create gifts at home to share with loved ones. In the past, we have made cookies, muffins, fudge, or other treats to share with our loved ones and neighbors. Little Bookworm loves to create drawings and sculptures to share. I enjoy knitting and crocheting things for others as well. This would be a great opportunity to share your favorite gift ideas as a family.

Fuzzy Character Painting
The adorable illustrations encouraged us to create our own paintings of the fuzzy characters at the center of this story. To start, I traced two pear shapes onto plain paper. Next, Little Bookworm drew lines with colored pencils to make the fur lines. After that, we used watercolor paints to fill in the pear shape and cover the lines. When the paint dried, we drew their faces onto the top of the pear shape. These were so easy and fun to create!
