Our bedtime reading routine is one of my favorite parts of the day. We love to finish up with a soothing story, so I am always looking out for new bedtime books for kids! This list includes some of our latest favorites!

Kisses for My Bedtime Bunny
Written and illustrated by Sandra Magsamen
This small padded board book uses a sweet rhyming text to lull little ones to sleep. The pastel colored illustrations are done in Magsamen’s signature style with illustrations that appear stitched and handcrafted. Kids will enjoy watching the little bunny get ready for bed while parents will appreciate the cute bedtime message for little ones.
I Say a Little Prayer for You at Bedtime
Written by Lorie Ann Grover and illustrated by Olivia Chin Mueller
This padded board book features a gentle rhyming text asking God to bless the things around us. From homes and nests to pets, friends, and family, the text touches on all kinds of things that we should be grateful for. The illustrations feature deep jewel tones and adorable animal characters settling in for the night.

Bedtime for Cranky Crab
Written by Cristina Ergunay and Heather Sketcheroos
This padded board book uses a rhyming text to tell the story of a cranky crab who refuses to go to bed. Wakey Birds

Wakey birds are cute, colorful birds that have trouble falling asleep at night. But one night, the Littlest Wakey Bird just cannot sleep. As she wakes up the other jungle animals, she accidentally awakens the Dreaded Jungle Beast. The dark illustrations make the colorful animals pop on the page, and add to the spookiness of the Jungle Beast. Kids will love the silly situations that the little birds get into, and parents will appreciate the sweet ending.

Bedtime for Albie
Written by Sophie Ambrose
Albie is a little warthog who doesn’t want to go to bed. His mother calls him in for the night, but Albie runs off and tries to get his friends to play with him. But all of his friends are doing their normal bedtime routines. In the end, Albie finds his way back to his mom who has the perfect way to wind down. Kids will love visiting all of the animal characters, and the funny way Albie’s mom gets him to bed.
It’s So Quiet
Written by Sherri Duskey Rinker and illustrated by Tony Fucile
This book from the author of Goodnight, Goodnight Construction Site explores all the noises on a farm at night. At first, the little mouse trying to sleep yells because it is too quiet. But as his mom tells him to listen to the sounds of the night, he soon realizes how much is actually going on in the quiet. The text is full of night sounds that kids will love reading out loud, and they will appreciate the silly ending.

Little Owl’s Bedtime
Written by Debi Gliori and illustrated by Alison Brown
This sweet book follows Little Owl, who does not want to go to bed. He complains about everything and comes up with all kinds of excuses why he can’t fall asleep.
