Exploring Your True Self with Crayola!

Celebrate diversity and identity with Crayola's new Color of the World crayons and some great children's books!I love Crayola products. It may be the teacher in me, but I just love opening up a new box of crayons or colored pencils. I just see a box full of unlimited possibilities. So I was thrilled when we had the chance to check out Crayola’s new Colors of the World crayons and participate in their campaign to share our True Selfies! This also gave us an opportunity to enjoy some children’s books about being true to yourself.

Crayola Colors of the World crayons

Crayola’s Color of the World Crayons

Crayola’s new Colors of the World crayons contain 24 newly formulated colors meant to reflect more than 40 skin tones from around the globe. These colors use 3 undertones, rose, almond, and golden, and range in tones from extra light to deep. The box highlights the names of the shades, and each crayon’s wrapping includes the name in English, French and Spanish.

They also offer a 32 count Colors of the World Crayon set which includes 4 hair color crayons, as well as 4 eye color crayons. This set is perfect for giving kids an opportunity to show their true selves in their artwork.

Creating our Self Portraits

We had a great time trying out the crayons and choosing the colors for our own self portraits. My daughter tried lots of colors before deciding on the one that she wanted to use. I love that these crayons give realistic colors for kids to use in their artwork. As a kid with a perfectionist side, it always drove me crazy that skin colors weren’t easy to find. The idea that kids all over the world can now feel represented and make artwork that they love is really special.

We encourage everyone to try out the Colors of the World crayons and share their own self portraits on social media with the hashtag #TrueSelfie. You can also use the Crayola Color Camera app to create coloring pages out of photos. We have had a lot of fun with this app. You can add silly stickers and backgrounds to photos of you or your pets. Share your coloring pages on social media, tag @crayola, and use #Trueselfie.
