One of my favorite things to do with my daughter is to tell jokes and make her giggle. She loves telling jokes now, although she doesn’t always understand them. So I was thrilled when we were given the chance to check out some new silly and funny books for kids!

Unstoppable
Written by Adam Rex and illustrated by Laura Park
I LOVE this book. This story begins with a crab and a bird who are both attacked by a cat. They decide to join together in an attempt to make their lives better. Soon they decide that they want more, and they join together with a turtle. Each time a new animal joins them, they come up with jumbled up names for themselves. The story then takes a completely unexpected turn when the group of animals try to save their forest home from being torn down for a shopping mall. Their resolution is totally hilarious, and kids will love the silly animal combination names throughout the book. I immediately insisted that everyone in the family read this book because the ending had me laughing out loud.

In this silly bedtime story written in “cave speak”, a tired caveman tries to put his baby to bed. But all the baby wants is for his dad to read him a story. When he finally agrees to get him a book, it’s a bigger struggle than expected. The caveman speak makes it a lot of fun to read this one aloud, and kids will love the twist ending and the sneaky actions of the baby.

As the book goes on, her repeated question causes him to look deep inside himself and reconsider his life choices. Kids will love the silly illustrations and the funny twist at the end of the story.

So he decides to enlist the help of his friend Alpaca, and clone him! But when one cloned alpaca leads to more cloned alpacas, chaos ensues and the whole world is put at risk. My daughter absolutely loves this completely silly story, from the fact that Llama eats second lunch and second dinner, to his ridiculous plan for getting away from the alpacas with his cheese pizza intact.
