We are all dealing with unfamiliar circumstances right now. For families who are trying to homeschool, it can be overwhelming to sort through all of the subjects and skills. In order to help parents as they try to keep kids engaged and entertained while learning, I’ve gathered a list of our favorite educational companies to help families through this tough time. Kiwi Crate
We are in LOVE with KiwiCo subscription boxes. My daughter received the Koala Crate (for ages 2-4) for over a year and adored it. I recently moved her up to the Kiwi Crate (for ages 5-8), and she is loving it even more. I am constantly impressed with the boxes she receives, especially the clear instructions and the materials included in each box. Each box introduces a new concept, and she has been able to recall what she has learned in each box. Check out their store here to see the many activity boxes for kids that they have available, as well as the free resources that they are offering for at-home learning!

Wonder Crate*
I love bringing books to life with activities (which is what led me to create this website). So I was super excited to check out Wonder Crate! The Wonder Crate and Wonder Crate Jr. subscription boxes introduce kids to inspirational people through colorful children’s books and hands on activities. We had an opportunity to check out a sample of the Wonder Crate Jr. box, which focused on Jim Henson. It was the perfect box for us, especially since we are already huge Muppet fans!.
The box included the beautiful and inspirational book I am Jim Henson by Brad Meltzer and Christopher Eliopoulos. It also included materials to make our own Muppet puppets. My daughter was so excited, she jumped right into it. I loved that the book explored his childhood and his experiences creating the world of the Muppets. The text was inspirational, showing kids that they can be creative and determined, and spread joy in the world, just like he did. I also appreciated that the kit included tons of materials to create the puppets, so the activity was open ended. There weren’t any instructions, so she was free to create to her heart’s content.
I love that this box not only gives kids hands on activities, but also introduces them to inspirational people through books! Wonder Crate Jr is well suited for ages 5-7, while Wonder Crate is great for ages 8-11. Thanks to the people at Wonder Crate, I am able to offer you a discount on subscriptions! The code BOOKWORM will get you 20% off any 3, 6 or 12 month subscription!
Creature Crew*
My daughter absolutely loves animals. She has been saying that she wants to be a vet since she was about 2 years old. So when I found The Creature Crew, I knew it would be a hit. This subscription box teaches kids about animals and habitats around the world through monthly shipments. When the subscription starts, kids receive a wooden card that names them as an official member of the Creature Crew, as well as a large map of the world, with each habitat labeled. They also receive an official Creature Crew binder that will allow them to keep track of their experiences. (This was especially exciting to my daughter who felt super grown up and professional).
Each month, kids receive a box that focuses on two new animals from a specific habitat. The box contains color coded cards and dividers for the binder, bursting with information about the animals they will be learning about. The cards include the animal’s sizes, their tracks, and a map showing where they are located. Kids will also receive stickers of the animal’s tracks to add to their maps. Each box also contains an animal gift, as well as puzzles, recipes, and hands on activities based on the animal. We had a lot of fun creating the activities in the booklet and learned a lot about each animal and how they survive in their habitats. Check out their subscription options here!
Raddish Kids
My daughter and I really like to cook together. So I was really excited when Raddish Kids offered thousands of free boxes to families who found themselves suddenly homeschooling. I ordered one of their boxes for us to try, and then found their free Cooking Camp. Each box that they send includes 3 recipes, a themed activity, a child friendly kitchen tool, a shopping list for all of the ingredients, and conversation cards, encouraging deep conversations at the dinner table. We had a lot of fun trying out new recipes and practicing new skills.. Their website also includes a ton of free content, including their Cooking Camp which encouraged us to try new skills like making our own pizza dough and pie crust. Check out their site for all kinds of cooking fun!

Little Passports*
This Little Passports subscription gives kids a chance to learn about the world through fun activities. Each month, kids receive a mailer including themed reading materials, souvenirs and activities for a different country around the world. They have several lines available for different age groups.
We had a chance to check out samples of their Early Explorers line (for ages 3-5) and the World Edition (ages 6-10). Both of these subscriptions started with a metal suitcase full of introductory materials, including a welcome letter from the pen pals that will visit them monthly. Each month includes information, toys, and activities that focus on a different country of the world. My daughter loved the activities included in her kits, and I really liked that the cute little suitcase would keep all of her learning materials together.
Universal Yums!*
This snack subscription takes families all over the world with delicious snacks. Each box focuses on a different country and includes a variety of snacks and an informational booklet that introduces them to the foods that come from that country. We had a chance to check out the France snack box, and we had so much fun with it! The box contained both sweet and salty snacks, and information about each one. The booklet also shared facts about where ingredients come from. We had a lot of fun exploring France, and learning about their foods there, and we found some new favorite snacks!
