This fun book gives kids a chance to become part of the story. by changing the faces on Little Rabbit and his friends with the turn of each page. The simple story celebrates the start of Spring, and uses different animal noises to engage little ones. Kids will love moving the pages back and forth and watching the faces on the animals change.
Eggs are Everywhere
Illustrated by Wednesday Kirwan
This interactive board book offers a fun guessing game for kids. As the reader spins the wheel, a different colored egg appears in the window in the center of the illustrations. The text then encourages them to lift one of the two flaps on the page, to try to find the egg that matches. If they choose the wrong flap, they will find nothing underneath. The ability to change the eggs and the placement of the matching one offers kids tons of opportunities to play this game. The illustrations have a vintage vibe to them, reminding me of Easter board books from when I was younger.
Hazel and Twig: The Lost Egg
Written by Brenna Burns Yu
Hazel and Twig are tiny mouse sisters. When they are playing in the meadow one day, they find an egg. They decide to bring it home and try to hatch it on their own. But when Twig goes missing for a bit, Hazel’s father helps her to see that the little egg may be lost too. So Hazel and Twig go on a mission to find the home of their little egg. The illustrations are adorable, and feature a variety of bird’s eggs that kids can explore.
Elsie
Written by Nadine Robert and illustrated by Maja Kastelic
This story follows the Filpot family of rabbits as they go fishing together. Each of the siblings has their role, but little Elsie doesn’t fit in. As they go about their day, they each yell at her for doing what she does. But in the end, Elsie’s ability to think outside the box just may save the day. The illustrations are vibrantly colored, highlighting the beautiful landscapes around the Filpot home, and the adorable little rabbits in the happy family.
