The Self Reflection Tool Helped Me to Analyze My Digital Wellbeing

When it comes to my technology usage, I am always striving to show my daughter that it is important to put down the screens sometimes. This can be especially hard when most of my job is done online. Using the Self Reflection Tool gave me an opportunity to really consider how much time I spend on screens, and whether I am letting it take too much control of my life. The assessment didn’t take very long to complete, and the suggestions provided helpful tips that I could use to improve my screen time.

The Family Guide Helped Me to Shape My Daughter’s Digital Wellbeing

As a parent, I am always worried about screen time and technology decisions when it comes to my daughter. Each generation is dealing with parenting decisions that have never been dealt with before. I didn’t get a cell phone until I was in high school and driving. But there were pay phones everywhere I went when I was young, and my parents made sure I always had a quarter to make a call. The Family Guide is a helpful resource that provides lots of talking points and thought providing questions to help parents to make these decisions. I really liked that they gave information and guided the reader, but also left it open for the parents to do what is right for their family.

The Downtime Tool on My Google Home Device Helps Me to Monitor My Daughter’s Technology Use

I love using our Google Home, and there are always different games and activities being released that my daughter and I have enjoyed together. I use it to play music a lot, and we listen to stories together. When she was younger, the Google Home didn’t recognize her voice or her words yet, so I was able to control how much she could interact with it. Now that she is older, she likes to control it. The Downtime Tool allows me to still have control over how much she interacts with it.

Google Wants To Help

Google wants technology to help people in their every day lives, but they also recognize that more technology can also bring up more problems for families trying to control their screen time. Because of this, they have created the Digital Wellbeing tools to help families unplug, minimize distractions, and decide on their own balance. I appreciate that Google recognizes the struggles that families like mine are dealing with, and they are offering these tools to help parents like me to make important decisions for my family.
