We have officially entered the “why” stage of childhood in our house. I honestly believe some days that my daughter is just pushing to see how many questions she can get in. I refuse to give up when she asks me questions, so our conversations keep cycling back to some version of “because I made you”. Since I can’t always answer all of her questions, I count on great books to help me. Luckily, we have had the opportunity to check out this awesome series from B.E.S. Publishing, which provides easy to understand answers to questions in a variety of subject matters.
Answering the “How” and “Why” questions
The Tell Me series are Q&A books that each answer over 200 questions that kids commonly ask. Each book covers a variety of subject areas, broken down in different tabbed sections. The text is divided up into clear questions and answers, with fun illustrations paired with each one. The text is easy to understand, and the Q&A format and index makes it easy for kids to find the answers they are looking for. Each book also includes lots of stickers for even more interactive fun!
Tell Me How? was written by Isabelle Fougere. This guide offers explanations for some of the “how does that happen?” or “how does it work” questions that kids ask and parents don’t know how to answer. This guide has 4 sections:

- Everyday Phenomena
Tell Me Earth and Sky was written by Sophie de Mullenheim. This book discusses many of the questions that kids may have about space and planets. Some of the topics covered include how big the sun is, and what the Earth is made of. The guide covers 4 subject areas:
- The Universe
- The Solar System

Teaching kids about research
These guides are a great way to teach kids about researching and finding answers to the questions that they have. The fun Q&A format makes these less intimidating for young kids learning to read and research, while the index and tabs help guide them to the answers they are seeking. Parents will appreciate the short and easy answers to some of the questions that kids have, that they may not know how to answer. This is a great series to have around the house to encourage research and inquiry based learning!
